The Triple D Dance Team was officially established in March of 2018 by Kimberly McGuire. This is the first Majorette Dance Studio in Wayne County and it currently has 65 youth, ages 5-18. The dancers are from Wayne, Lenoir, Cumberland, Greene County and the State of Virginia. They are known to the competition world as “Dancing Divas of Destruction”. The first studio location was in Goldsboro, NC, but due to the significant increase in enrollment, a more spacious studio was opened in LaGrange, NC in order to accommodate the many needs of the organization. With the family style atmosphere, the team understands through dance they are able to express their creativity, build positive social relationships with their teammates, build self-esteem, express emotions, develop discipline, confidence, and so much more. Hence, Triple D’s mission statement is: “Building self-esteem, leadership skills, confidence and teamwork while empowering each child through dance”. Where as, the vision statement is: “Shaping a child’s destiny through dance”.
The team is taught a variety of different genres of dance such as jazz, tumbling, hip hop, lyrical, pom pom, etc. Triple D Dancers travel throughout North Carolina and nationally competing in majorette dance competitions. They have been a part of competitions in Richmond, VA, Washington, D.C., Ayden, NC, Charlotte, NC, Tyner, NC, and Jackson, TN, just to name a few.
