What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. Its name is portmanteau of “June” and “nineteenth”, the date of its celebration. Juneteenth is recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance in forty-five states.

The 2024 Juneteenth event in Goldsboro, NC will be celebrated on Saturday, June 15th at The Hub located at 200 S Center Street. It is a FREE event open to all.
How much does it cost?
The event itself is free and open to everyone. There will be food trucks and vendors that will offer tasty delights for a nominal charge. Bouncy houses and a Photo Booth will also be available for a minimal charge. Parking is free.
Will there be security?
Goldsboro Police and EMS will be on site to provide security and aid in any health related issues that may arise.
Who is coordinating this event?
Jamz Out Juneteenth is a production of local radio station WSSG – 92.7 JAMZ, one of the many Curtis Media Group stations locally owned and operated in North Carolina.
